What Is the Difference Between Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC?

Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC have both become more and more popular over the last few years, especially here in Wisconsin. While both compounds stem from the same plant, they have distinct differences in their effects, chemical structures, and availability. 

How Do the Effects Differ?

Delta 9 THC, the primary psychoactive compound found in marijuana, is well-known for producing strong effects such as euphoria, heightened senses, and sometimes, more intense side effects like anxiety or paranoia. This process often involves converting CBD into Delta 8 THC through chemical reactions, making production more complex compared to Delta 9.

Get Ready for 4/20, 2024 Edition

In the wide world of cannabis, 4/20 often refers to the practice of smoking at 4:20 pm on any given day. But, on one very special day each year, we celebrate cannabis with a full day in its honor: April 20th. Keep reading to learn a bit about the history behind the infamous three-number combo in all its variants and some exciting Elevated Hemp Solutions sales news!

Why 4/20 Tho? 

What is so special about this particular time of day and this particular day? And how did they come to be associated with marijuana consumption? Since the first documented use of the expression “420” with all of its implications in the 1970s, there have been numerous theories about its origins. Some even speculated that it referred to a police code. Thankfully, its actual origins are a lot more fun than that. 

Legend – and documented oral histories – tells of a group of high schoolers, calling themselves the Waldos, in California. The year is 1971. The mission: Locate an abandoned cannabis crop. The code for this operation: 4:20 in reference to the time they commenced their activities on each school day. The outcomes of this mission are uncertain, lost to time (though it doesn’t sound like they ever found it!). But, what was the result of this casually-coined term? We all forever have a term, a time, and a day to celebrate our favorite consumable. 

But how did the expression spread from that little California high school to the rest of the world? Through the Grateful Dead, of course. One of the original members of the 4/20 group went on to become friends with the band, sharing his clever code with them and other followers, who in turn passed it around like a freshly rolled joint. 

Holidays on April 20th

Some other excellent holidays on and around April 20th, 2024, offer activities to do in addition to/while consuming your Wisconsin state-licensed hemp.
